The Timelapse series originates from my interest in animated film and the nature of change. In 1979/1980 I sketched the view of my bedroom window in Austin from time to time over a period of months, planning to make the drawings into an animated film in which one sketch would fade into another and another and so on, showing the scene changing over time. In 1982 I did a similar series of sketches of the view of our second-floor living room window in Comfort, Texas (view 30-second animation). The sketches were stored away until 2006 when I decided to do a series of paintings from them. I'm now working on other series of photographs, drawings, and paintings from my current life in Marfa.
